TwoWheels world adventures: A Journey Beyond Borders in Africa
Dec 15, 2024
Hey everyone!
As we roll on through Africa, I can’t help but reflect on how unpredictable, exciting, and full of life this adventure is. Our journey started in Accra, Ghana, where we reconnected with our Norden friends. After getting our trucks cleaned and tuned up by the expert Aldis from A1 Diesel, it was time to hit the road. If you’re planning an African road trip, I can’t recommend them enough – they’re the best in the business!
Accra has been a great place to start, but what really makes it special for me is the human connection we’ve made along the way. From receiving a blessing during Sunday mass at a local church to sharing meals with new friends like Sabina and Ibrahim, these moments make the journey richer. Our time in Accra was filled with small adventures, like navigating the local visa processes and discovering the mouthwatering flavors of African tilapia. It’s the little things that stay with you.
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but that’s what makes it all the more worthwhile. We crossed borders into Togo, and as night fell, we found ourselves at a fish farm by a stunning lake, surrounded by tilapia ponds and peacocks. Talk about a peaceful retreat! It’s these quiet moments in the middle of nature that make me appreciate the road even more.
The best part of this trip? I’m not doing it alone. I’ve got my great friend Arvīds with me, whose incredible photography skills are turning our expedition into something even more memorable. Hopefully, the footage will capture the true essence of what we’re experiencing.
And the adventure doesn’t end there. I’m also part of LTV’s Gudrs un vēl Gudrāks show, where we’ll be exploring these countries in a way that connects us all. If you’re in school, feel free to send me any ideas for questions about the countries we’re passing through. I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
So, keep following our journey as we travel across the west coast of Africa and head toward Cape Town. With every mile, we’re learning more about the world, and more importantly, about ourselves.
